Dover and Portsmouth, NH apply for large groundwater withdrawal permits; public hearing 2/23/17

The cities of Dover and Portsmouth, NH have both applied for large groundwater withdrawal permits with the NH Department of Environmental Services. We are trying to learn more about these applications from NHDES. Portsmouth’s withdrawal would be in the Town of Madbury for 720,000 gallons/day; the town has requested a public hearing which will be held Feb. 23 (see Calendar). Dover, through its water department, has applied for 288,000 gal/day withdrawal. You can look up current active large groundwater permit applications on the NHDES website here.
